The severed head of a man from Assam, whose torso was found in a suitcase at Perambur Railway Station on June 5, was recovered on Monday. The severed head was recovered from Kolavai Lake in Chengalpattu. On June 5, Railway Protection Force personnel found an abandoned suitcase at Perambur Railway Station. When they opened it, they found the decomposed torso of a man, later identified as Ameer Ali.Initially, the only clue available was a pair of trousers found on the torso. Using the barcode on the garment, investigators traced it to a shop in T. Nagar and obtained the mobile phone number of the purchaser.By analysing the phone’s location data, the police found that the user frequently travelled between T. Nagar and Teynampet. Inquiries revealed that the person frequented a cancer hospital in Teynampet. Police showed photographs of the suitcase to the hospital staff, and further inquiries revealed that a woman caregiver regularly brought patients to the hospital. Special teams also inspected the crime scene and collected evidence. Among the materials recovered were red and yellow plastic covers, which were identified as disposal bags used at a hospital in Taramani. Based on this lead, the team visited the hospital and verified the details of employees who handled such bags.
