Ministry spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said the activation of warning sirens in al-Kharj early on Monday was a precautionary measure following the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen that disappeared near the border.

Later on Monday, al-Maliki said the results of an investigation and technical review showed that the missile launched from Yemen had been aimed at a regional country.

He said the ballistic missile malfunctioned and deviated from its intended trajectory due to technical issues, resulting in inaccurate indications regarding its intended target.
