As a police inquiry into the death of a Kartik Research employee continues, the brand’s planned runway show at this month’s men’s fashion week in Paris has been postponed.

Divyanshu Joshi, a freelance model who managed Kartik Research’s store in Delhi for two years, died on May 28 while in Kerala, India, for a photo shoot. The company confirmed his death in an Instagram post, stating, “We are heartbroken by the loss of our dear colleague and friend.”

Kartik Research’s founder Kartik Kumra declined to comment Monday through a company spokesperson.

In its social media post, Kartik Research claimed, “As inaccurate accounts of this tragedy continue to circulate, we wish to clarify that Divyanshu was in Kerala as part of a seasonal photo shoot and was not participating in any swimming-related activity as part of the production. Some public reports have mischaracterized the circumstances of the incident.”

Media requests to police officials in Kerala were not acknowledged Monday.
