The GMK EVO-X3 is an upcoming computer that’s taller and thinner than last year’s EVO-X2, but which brings a few significant upgrades including an OCuLink port and a second M.2 slot that allows you to twice as much storage inside.GMK also plans to offer at least two processor options. According to wccftech, the GMK EVO-X3 will launch with the same AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip used in the older model, but GMK will eventually offer a version with a Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor.wccftechBoth are 16-core, 32-thread chips with Zen 5 CPUs and 40-core Radeon 8060S integrated graphics. But the new processor supports slightly faster speeds, has a slightly higher performance NPU, and perhaps most importantly, supports more memory.The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 supports up to 128GB of 256-bit LPDDR5x-8000 memory, but the Max+ PRO 495 supports up to 192GB of 256-bit LPDDR5x-8533 memory.Adding an OCuLink port to the new model also opens the possibility of connecting a graphics dock or other accessories using an external PCIe 4.0 x4 connection with data transfer speeds up to 64 Gbps. And the larger chassis for the EVO-X3 will also likely help with thermal performance, helping keep the processor and other components from overheating during heavy use.Casual users probably wouldn’t notice much difference between models with Ryzen AI Max+ 395 or 495 processors, but that’s not the target market for these PCs. The extra memory and slight speed boost could allow developers and power users to run larger, higher-performance AI models and other applications on the GMK EVO-X3. In a lot of ways, computers like this are the AMD-powered alternatives to upcoming systems with NVIDIA RTX Spark processors.Unfortunately, systems with AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ chips have never been cheap, and the rising costs of RAM are only going to make top-of-the-line models with 128GB or 192GB of memory even more expensive.GMK first revealed that the EVO-X3 was on the way in May, and now wccftech says that the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 model should be available soon.
