Lauren SamsFin editor, deputy editor AFR Magazine and fashion editorJun 9, 2026 – 5.00amAlex Eagle has great taste. It has taken her from working as “an absolute dogsbody” at The Sunday Times Style magazine and Harper’s Bazaar to being the “token young person” at British fashion brand Joseph, to opening her own fleet of stores (The Store, inside Soho House, and Alex Eagle Studio in London), a sprawling neighbourhood development with Nick Jones of Soho House (180 The Thames) and now, a collaboration with Australian swimwear brand Rashi. Her retail spaces trade in the kinds of offbeat but refined pieces Eagle surrounds herself with: everything from Murano glass tumblers to crew neck cashmere jumpers to antiques she has trained her expert eye on (like a vintage Cartier sapphire and diamond ring). She is the kind of multi-hyphenate whose job description defies definition; in the past five years she has opened a gym (The Health Club), a design studio (Eagle & Hodges) and a bespoke suiting service. It all sounds carefully calculated but Eagle, 44, says her network of businesses has come about organically.Subscribe to gift this articleGift 5 articles to anyone you choose each month when you subscribe.Subscribe nowAlready a subscriber?
