Banerjee had failed to appear before CID office on June 1. The single-judge vacation bench of justice Chaitali Chatterjee Das rejected the plea for fast-track hearing and set June 10 as the next date of hearing.The high court on Monday refused an urgent hearing plea by former sports minister Aroop Biswas, who was summoned by the police in connection with alleged irregularities during an event which featured Argentine football star Lionel Messi at Salt Lake Stadium last year. Biswas had moved the court seeking protection from coercive action by the police and challenged an FIR lodged against him. Biswas had skipped appearance before the investigators last week.
Abhishek Banerjee skips CID summons again
Trinamool leader Abhishek Banerjee has received a fresh summons from the Criminal Investigation Department. He is asked to appear at the CID headquarters by Tuesday evening. This follows his previous failure to attend an interrogation regarding alleged forged signatures of legislators. Banerjee had approached the Calcutta High Court seeking protection. The court has set June 10 for the next hearing.
