Guwahati: Manipur BJP chief Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi on Monday filed her nomination for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election from the state on Monday.Devi submitted her nomination papers before the returning officer at the Manipur legislative assembly secretariat. She was accompanied by chief minister Y Khemchand Singh and home minister Govindas Konthoujam. Congress has decided not to field a candidate. Congress has only five MLAs in the 60-member assembly.Ruling BJP has 36 MLAs, followed by National People's Party (6), Naga People's Front (5), Congress (5), Kuki People's Alliance (2), JDU (1) and independents (3). Both NPP and NPF are BJP allies in Manipur.

Manipur BJP chief Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi has filed her nomination for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election. She submitted her papers at the assembly secretariat accompanied by the Chief Minister and Home Minister. The Congress party will not field a candidate. The BJP holds a strong majority in the assembly with its allies.
