Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher and wife Liz have bid farewell to some beloved animals on ITV's Fletchers' Family Farm.19:49, 08 Jun 2026Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher said goodbye to one type of animal on his farm during the most recent instalment of his ITV programme Fletchers' Family Farm.During the episode, which first broadcast towards the end of 2024, audiences watched as Liz arranged for some of their livestock to be readied for departure from the farm.Kelvin revealed in a voiceover that they were aiming to make their farm sustainable, which meant they'd need to create space for their cattle, pigs and sheep by rehoming certain animals.Unfortunately, this involved parting ways with their alpacas as Liz worked with shearer Kirstie to give them a trim before their departure.Liz told Kirstie: "We'll be sad to lose them, but we need the land back. We need it for the other animals."Kelvin mentioned that the creatures had been 'great fun' to keep on the farm but their time there had reached its conclusion, reports the Liverpool Echo. She continued: "They're an incredible animal, and when we've had the odd event at the farm, it's been amazing."But what we really want to focus on now is what works commercially for us on the farm, so we can put money back into the farm, and they just don't."So, we're going to get them sheared, get them all cleared up, get them checked over and then plan to sell them on."As Kirstie began shearing the creatures, a voiceover clarified that while it might appear uncomfortable for the alpacas, it was the safest method to do so as it's vital to their wellbeing.Following the shearing of the first animal, Kirstie explained to Liz that alpaca fleece is ideal for people with allergies to sheep wool.Kelvin added: "It's right that we find them a new home in which they can flourish. For now, we'll store these fleeces until we find a good use for them."We'll be sad to say goodbye to these wonderful, characterful creatures, but if we're to focus on being native wildstock farmers, we need to put all our energy into the breeds that help us achieve that dream."Kelvin and his wife Liz have been documenting their farming adventure for ITV audiences since 2021, after purchasing a 120-acre estate in Cheshire. The programme is currently in its fourth series, with the most recent episode broadcast in April, which featured the family hosting their inaugural farmers market at the farm.Article continues belowFletchers' Family Farm is available to watch on ITVX
