It's safe to say Madonna is back, and the Queen of Pop has treated fans to a mini film ahead of the release of her upcoming album, Confessions II, next monthDaniel Bird Assistant Celebrity and Entertainment Editor19:54, 08 Jun 2026Madonna is once again reaffirming her position as the Queen of Pop. Today, the global megastar has treated fans to a mini-film, of almost 14 minutes, ahead of the release of Confessions II next month.‌It will be Madonna's first album in seven years, and the 68-year-old is pulling out all of the stops. Directed by Torso, the new immersive film, which premiered at the 25th Tribeca Film Festival last week, takes fans on a journey that can only be described as out of this world.‌Powered by none other than Dolce & Gabbana, Maveric and Warner Records, the film also gives fans the chance to listen to the first six songs from Confessions II, which is slated for release on July 3.‌But it's not just Madonna that fans will see in the film; they'll be transported through her different eras, with Easter eggs referencing the likes of her 1985 film, Desperately Seeking Susan, and videos for her tracks Vogue, Hung Up, Deeper and Deeper and Open Your Heart, as well as featuring a string of pretty famous faces. One scene, referencing Madonna's past eras, sees Julia Garner completely transform into Madonna in her Vogue video. It's no secret that Julia is Madonna's top choice to play her in a musical biopic.‌Fans will hear I Feel So Free, Good For The Soul, One Step Away, Bring Your Love (with Sabrina Carpenter), Danceteria and Read My Lips (with Fied). The new film delivers nothing but tension and surrender, disappearing amongst the bright lights of the dancing crowd. Each of the six sections of the movie follows the narrative of a twisted dream, with the dream unfolding at a rapid pace behind the portrait of the album, encompassing the themes Madonna expresses – freedom, connection, desire, the transcendent power of dance, and the booming nightlife scene.‌The result of said themes? Well, what is described as a "f***ed up night out" by the film's own press materials sees Madonna being ambushed and worshipped by a camera-wielding group.Throughout the various scenes, including the bedroom, the infamous nightclub toilet, the car, the arena, and nature, the Queen of Pop and her pals cruise through spaces where the music comes to life.‌The standout moment is the nightlife universe centring on Danceteria, the iconic New York club that helped pave the way for Madonna's early career. This is also the part where just about anybody and everybody appear. The scene, which can only be described as a chaotic fever dream, features Benedict Cumberbatch, Cole Palmer, Honey Djon, Joao Pedro, Richard E. Grant, and Shygirl all finding themselves in the midst of it.And party girl herself, legendary supermodel Kate Moss delivers nothing but electricity amongst the chaos around her. The all-famous cast immerse themselves in the wild of the night club toilet, famous for creating unexpected friendships and often the highlight of nights out.‌The movie closes with Madonna's daughter, Lola Leon, who recently shared her new single and T–shirt, connecting the universes' throughline. And it wouldn't be Madonna if Dolce & Gabbana weren't included – continuing her longstanding relationship with the brand, the luxury fashion house not only dressed the Queen of Pop but also all 250 extras throughout the film.‌With an illustrious career spanning more than four decades, it's perhaps safe to say that Madonna is the only artist who could pull off such an intense, eye-catching and spine-tingling film to promote an upcoming album.Confessions II is to be released on July 3, via Warner Records, a continuation of her legendary 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor.Article continues belowLike this story?
