The United States and Japan announced a planned $1 billion partnership under the Genesis Mission to support joint research in areas including quantum information science, fusion energy, advanced materials, biotechnology, and AI-driven discovery.
Eleven joint research teams will bring together DOE National Laboratories, DOE user facilities, and leading Japanese institutions to collaborate on next-generation scientific and computing challenges.
The partnership includes a planned combined investment of $500 million from each country over five years, subject to future appropriations.
