Maddie Meyer / Getty ImagesJune 8, 2026 11:42 am EDT Updated Longtime power forward Milan Lucic announced his retirement from the NHL on Sunday following a 17-season career with the Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames. Lucic scored 233 goals and 586 points in 1,177 career regular-season games, adding 29 goals and 77 points in 136 playoff games.The 38-year-old was known as one of the NHL’s best power forwards throughout parts of his career, often antagonizing opposing teams and even fan bases, primarily during his time in Boston. The Vancouver native won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011, defeating his hometown Canucks in seven games.“I want to especially thank the Bruins for giving me my start in professional hockey and for instilling the confidence to reach new heights as a player,” Lucic said in a statement. “Later in my career, I had the privilege of playing with some exceptional organizations in Los Angeles, Edmonton and Calgary. I look back with fondness at the time I spent with each organization and for the remarkable teammates I had the pleasure of playing alongside.”
