Students from Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama and St. Maria De Mattias School from the city visited the Mysuru Airport on Monday for an aviation familiarisation exercise.The visit was described by Mysuru Airport authorities as part of the activities leading up to Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026, scheduled to be observed on June 15.The students, who arrived at Mysuru Airport on Monday morning, were provided with an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the aviation environment. “During the visit, the students were taken on a guided tour of the airport’s passenger terminal building, where they were familiarised with various passenger facilitation measures, airport processes, and the role of different stakeholders involved in airport operations,” said a statement issued by Mysuru Airport.The students also visited the airport fire station, where officials explained the functions of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) services, emergency response mechanisms, specialised firefighting equipment, and the critical role played by the fire service in ensuring aviation safety.A key highlight of the programme was the visit to the Orient Flying School, located within the airport premises. The students interacted with aviation professionals and were introduced to the fundamentals of flight training, aircraft operations, and career opportunities in the aviation sector. “The visit provided valuable insights into the journey of becoming a pilot and other aviation-related professions”, the statement said.The initiative was organised with the objective of creating awareness among young students about the aviation industry and inspiring them to explore future careers in aviation. The programme also helped students understand the importance of airport infrastructure, safety systems, and passenger-centric services.“Mysuru Airport remains committed to engaging with the local community through educational outreach programmes and initiatives that promote awareness about aviation, while supporting the objectives of Yatri Suvidha Diwas, which focuses on enhancing passenger experience and public engagement,” the statement added.
