WAEC said these included a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of three officials transporting examination materials.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has blamed the delayed conduct of Mathematics and Agricultural Science papers in some centres during the ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on a combination of logistical, operational, and security challenges.
WAEC said these included a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of three officials transporting examination materials.
In a press statement issued on Monday by the Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina, WAEC said it had received reports concerning the delayed conduct of the examinations in some centres and immediately launched preliminary investigations to determine the causes and prevent a recurrence.
According to the examination body, one of the major factors responsible for the delay was a devastating motor accident that occurred on June 3, 2026.
