The launch of a new movement by former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai will have no impact on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), its State general secretary Raama Sreenivasan said in Tiruchi on Monday.Responding to questions from reporters after a meeting of the BJP State office-bearers and district presidents, Mr. Raama Sreenivasan said there was no precedent of leaders who had left the BJP achieving political success on their own. “The BJP has always emerged successful. Those who leave the BJP eventually return to the party,” he said and added that Mr. Annamalai’s new movement would not affect the party in any way.The meeting, chaired by BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran, was attended by BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan, former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, State office-bearers, and district presidents.Mr. Raama Sreenivasan said the meeting reviewed the party’s electoral performance, organisational strengthening measures, and future programmes, including plans to observe International Yoga Day on June 21 and conduct regional-level training camps. He said the BJP’s vote share in Tamil Nadu had not declined in the most recent Assembly election. On the newly formed government, he alleged that Tamil Nadu’s financial position was weak and questioned how the ruling TVK would fulfil its electoral promises. He alleged that the safety of women had deteriorated compared to the situation during DMK regime and the new government had failed to curb drug trafficking and maintain law and order.About developments in the AIADMK, Mr. Raama Sreenivasan said the BJP would not comment on the party’s internal affairs and expressed confidence that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami would be able to resolve issues within the party. Published - June 08, 2026 06:19 pm IST
