Seven people died and nine were injured when a minibus hit a stationary lorry on Emirates Road in Dubai.
The lorry had stopped in the middle of the road after a minor accident, triggering the fatal rear-end collision.
Brig Juma bin Suwaidan, director of Dubai Police’s traffic department, urged motorists never to stop in live lanes unless unavoidable.
“It is very dangerous offence to stop in the road that can result in deadly accidents,” the traffic chief said.
