Combined deaths from alcohol, suicide and drugs fell in 2024

A combined death rate from alcohol, substance use and suicide in the U.S. decreased in 2024, but whether this progress will continue depends on sustained public health investments, according to a Trust for America’s Health, or TFAH, report.The decrease builds upon a 4% reduction in these deaths in 2023, according to a press release.
