Footage captured the Gulfstream G200 erupting into a fireball upon impact, followed by large plumes of black smoke. The pilot and co-pilot, who were the sole occupants of the aircraft, were killed in the crash. The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute confirmed the aircraft had declared an emergency approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of the airport before attempting to return. The jet was originally en route to Austin, Texas, when the emergency occurred.
