An Israeli military official said Iran has fired nearly 30 ballistic missiles towards Israel since Sunday night, in the first exchange of fire between the two countries since a truce was announced in April.
“Last night, the Iranian regime began firing ballistic missiles towards Israel,” the official told journalists on Monday, adding that nearly 30 missiles had been launched.
The official said Yemen’s Houthi movement had separately fired two missiles towards Israel.
The Israeli army said earlier on Monday that it had struck several targets at a petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran, in retaliation.
The Israeli official said the site produced chemical materials used in ballistic missiles fired towards Israel, adding that the strikes had disrupted Iran’s ability to manufacture “various types of weapons”.
