The Borno State Government has confirmed that two children died during a military operation that resulted in the rescue of 360 persons abducted by terrorists in the troubled Ngoshe area of the state, while describing the mission as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in the region.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar, disclosed this on Monday while speaking during a live appearance on Channels Television's The Morning Brief, monitored by SaharaReporters.

Tar said the operation, carried out by troops under Operation Hadin Kai, was based on intelligence provided by the Department of State Services (DSS) and military intelligence operatives.

According to him, the operation resulted in the successful rescue of hundreds of kidnap victims who had been held by terrorists.
