Thailand’s consumer protection agency, the Consumers Council, has sued Facebook and parent company Meta Platforms over failing to protect users in the country against scams.
The lawsuit, filed on Monday, alleges Meta and the Facebook platform have allowed scammers to target consumers via ads and false profiles and pages.
Scammers frequently use the platform to impersonate well-known figures and sell counterfeit, substandard or dangerous products, the TCC alleged.
