If you've ever fancied owning your own island, one is now in the market - a private island off the coast of Brittany is for sale for €2.5 million.

If you want to go one better than the people who buy a French château, how about your own private island?

The Breton island île de Riec’h has come onto the market - comprising six hectares with five beaches and two houses off the coast of the Morbihan département.

Most of the small island is green space with a wide variety of wildlife and biodiversity, but there are two houses on the island - a main house of 140 square metres and a smaller caretaker's home.

The real estate agent warns that both dwellings have an energy rating of G, the least energy efficient.
