Amtrak police officers arrested the suspect after he was pepper-sprayed during a physical confrontation to subdue him. He is believed to be homeless and emotionally disturbed, reported ABC 7. Multiple victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. One victim was reportedly in serious condition. None were believed to have life-threatening injuries, according to reports.“Earlier this afternoon, Amtrak Police responded to a reported stabbing at New York Penn Station,” Amtrak said in a released statement. “The suspect has been apprehended and an investigation is underway.”

The stabbing at Penn Station came a day before Game 3 of the National Basketball Association Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, which is being played at Madison Square Garden. The famous sporting arena is located directly above the train station and is expected to have President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in attendance. As a result, strict security measures have been implemented for the game.
