Following the suicide of 12-year-old Shivan Cumberlege three weeks ago, his three siblings have been removed from their parents' custody and are receiving counselling

Shivan allegedly hanged himself with his mother’s sari in front of his four-year-old brother, at his Riet River home.

Last week, his brother, and two sisters – aged two and four months – were removed from the care of their parents’.

Mala Pather, a social work supervisor at the Verulam Child Welfare, told POST that Shivan’s siblings were receiving counselling.
