A 7.8-magnitude earthquake has struck off the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, causing buildings to collapse and triggering tsunami warnings across the region, The New York Times reports.
The quake struck around 7:37am local time on Monday, about 15 miles southwest of Burias, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
