SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — Local officials in Bayugan City and the municipality of San Francisco suspended classes and school operations following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao on Monday, citing the risk of aftershocks and the need to assess the structural integrity of school facilities.
In Bayugan City, Mayor Kirk Asis ordered the suspension of classes on the first day of the school year until further notice, as authorities begin inspections of school buildings and other educational facilities.
