The Israeli military says it has detected Iranian missiles launched at the north of the country.Warning sirens are currently sounding in communities across northern Israel.This would be the first Iranian attack on Israel since a ceasefire was announced in early April.The Israeli military said in an X post its defensive systems were operating to intercept the threat.Israel had earlier launched an attack on the Hezbollah stronghold suburb of Dahiyeh in southern Beirut.Iran had warned of retaliation after the strike and has been demanding an end to the fighting in Lebanon as part of any peace deal with the US.Israel said the attack on Sunday, local time, was in retaliation for the Iranian-backed Hezbollah firing at northern Israel earlier in the day.Israel's attack on Beirut came a few days after the Lebanese and Israeli governments agreed to a ceasefire in US-hosted talks, though Hezbollah rejected the deal.The strike on a residential building killed two people and wounded 20, Lebanon's health ministry said.ABC/AP
