The New York Knicks announced increased security efforts ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit to the Big Apple for Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the hometown Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.The Knicks said in a statement on Saturday that a no-bag policy will be in effect for Monday’s game and asked fans to limit the number of personal items they bring.“As we move closer to Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday night, Madison Square Garden and the United States Secret Service want to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all ticket holders by sharing important security procedures that will be in place,” the Knicks posted on X.
“A strict no-bag policy will be in effect, and fans should make every effort to limit personal items to an absolute minimum. Fans should expect enhanced security measures when entering Madison Square Garden, including TSA-style screening procedures. Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive at least two hours before tip-off to allow additional time for screening and entry,” the statement continued before linking to the Secret Service’s list of prohibited items and noting no storage would be provided at Madison Square Garden.
Trump’s visit to New York comes as the Knicks look to secure their first NBA championship since 1973 after taking the first two games in the best-of-seven series against the Spurs. The president is a longtime Knicks fan and praised the team’s owner last week.
