DHAHRAN: Team Lynx, from the host city, took home the top prize at the Ithra STEM Racing event at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture on Saturday.

The competition is deigned to test young people’s skills in designing, engineering and racing miniature cars powered by compressed air. It also demands expertise in management and teamwork.

The event attracted 20 teams and more than 280 competitors from Dhahran, Jubail, Al-Ahsa, Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah.

Team Baz from Jeddah filled the runners-up spot, followed by Team Anaq from Madinah and Team Drein from Al-Ahsa.

All four teams will now go on to compete at the world finals in Singapore from Oct. 3-8, an event in which Saudi Arabia has thrived, with several of its teams achieving top 10 global rankings.
