Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has said that the current dress code followed by nurses in India continues to reflect strong British influences and suggested that future changes could be made based on the preferences and comfort of nurses themselves. Speaking to ANI in an interview in Mumbai, Kangana said nurses should have greater flexibility in their professional attire, similar to doctors, while adhering to prescribed guidelines. Kangana questions continued use of existing uniform style Sharing her personal views, Kangana said the design of nurses' uniforms appears to retain a distinctly foreign look. She noted that while doctors are allowed some flexibility within professional dress codes, nurses continue to follow a uniform style that, in her opinion, remains largely unchanged regardless of weather conditions. Kangana clarified that her remarks reflected her personal perspective and added that in her upcoming film, the profession of nursing has been portrayed with integrity and dignity. She said that the significance of a uniform lies in the duty it represents rather than its appearance. Actor cites historical influences behind current design Elaborating on her observations, Kangana referred to elements such as caps, pins and belts that are commonly associated with nursing uniforms. According to her, these features reflect historical influences linked to British traditions and the styling associated with the US Navy during the periods of the First and Second World Wars. She said the overall design has remained largely unchanged over time. Future reforms should reflect nurses' preferences, says Kangana Kangana stated that any future changes to nursing uniforms should be guided by the views and requirements of nurses themselves. She said that if nurses believe reforms are necessary, introducing changes that improve comfort and better reflect Indian preferences would be a positive development. According to the actor, an "Indianised" version of the uniform could be considered if it aligns with what nurses find beneficial. Kangana to portray nurse in upcoming film Kangana will next be seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, where she plays the role of a staff nurse.
