Osaretin reportedly died from severe head injuries sustained after a police vehicle allegedly rammed into his tricycle at the DSC Roundabout area of Warri.

The family of a 43-year-old tricycle rider, Osaretin Collins Onaiwu, has called for a thorough investigation and prosecution of three police officers allegedly responsible for his death in Warri, Delta State.

Osaretin reportedly died from severe head injuries sustained after a police vehicle allegedly rammed into his tricycle at the DSC Roundabout area of Warri.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. According to family members and eyewitness accounts, the deceased was allegedly accosted by officers attached to the Ebrumede Divisional Headquarters Area Command at a known checkpoint near the DSC Roundabout.

Passengers who were riding in the tricycle at the time of the incident alleged that the police vehicle struck the tricycle, causing the rider to lose control. The impact reportedly led to the tricycle somersaulting, throwing Osaretin and his passengers onto the road.
