The minister also challenged reports concerning Mozambican casualties.

South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, has dismissed reports that Nigerian nationals were among those killed in the latest wave of attacks targeting foreign nationals in the country, describing the claims as false.

Lamola also refuted reports that five Mozambican nationals had been killed during the unrest, stating that South African authorities had only confirmed the deaths of two Mozambicans, whose cases are currently under investigation.

Speaking in a video posted on his X handle on Saturday evening, the minister addressed what he described as a series of factual inaccuracies circulating about the recent attacks on foreign nationals, particularly Africans living in South Africa.

According to him, claims that two Nigerians were killed during the violence were not supported by any evidence.
