TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto visited Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, a government-run middle school under the People's School program, in Bali on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The president was welcomed by students with cheers and a traditional Kecak dance performance, according to a live broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.Prabowo arrived wearing a brown safari suit, a dark blue cap, and black sunglasses. He was accompanied by Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, Deputy Social Affairs Minister Agus Jabo Priyono, and Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya.As he entered the school grounds, students dressed in green uniforms enthusiastically greeted him. A group of children then performed the Kecak dance, one of Bali's most iconic cultural traditions.After the performance, Prabowo approached the students, shook their hands, and spoke with them briefly.Before entering the main hall to meet parents and prospective students for the upcoming academic year, the president was greeted by students lined up in Sekolah Rakyat uniforms.Speaking at the event, Prabowo said the Sekolah Rakyat program was designed to help build the nation by expanding educational opportunities for disadvantaged communities."We established Sekolah Rakyat to help those who are most in need and those who have the fewest opportunities," Prabowo said.He emphasized that the government wants all Indonesians to enjoy a decent standard of living and access to quality education."Ensuring that people can live well and live with dignity is a very important mission," he said.Read: People's School Construction Reaches 71%, Indonesian Govt Says
