The PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti's review meeting on the AIIMS Awantipora project has drawn sharp criticism from the ruling National Conference (NC) and other political parties, which have questioned the capacity in which she conducted the exercise. She also spoke with Union Health Minister JP Nadda and urged him to expedite work on the project so that it is not delayed further. Mufti said Nadda assured her that efforts would be made to ensure its timely completion. Reacting to the development, J&K Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo of the ruling NC, in an apparent reference to Mufti, said some leaders appeared to be suffering from "political amnesia" and continued to behave as if they were still in power despite losing office in 2018 and being repeatedly rejected by the people since then.J&K People's Conference chief and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone also criticised Mufti's move, describing her review meeting at AIIMS as "nothing short of a constitutional crisis".
