Matthew McConaughey’s 94-year old mother serves up bawdy storytelling in hilarious Mother’s Day campaign for her son’s tequila brand.

Fans have come to know and love Matthew McConaughey not only for his memorable and often scene-stealing acting performances, but for possessing an eccentric persona that has made for colorful news fodder over the years. It’s that same persona that has made him one of the more standout celebrity pitchmen for brands. For his own brand, however, McConaughey has competition in the form of his spicy 94-year-old mother, Kay “MacMac” McConaughey, who stars in the Mother’s Day campaign for Pantalones Organic Tequila, cofounded by her son and his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, who also appears in the campaign. The Most Interesting Mother in the World, created by Maximum Effort, not only takes its cheeky cue from Dos Equis’ classic Most Interesting Man in the World campaign in title but in style, with photo collages of a young MacMac set to similar music and visual treatments. But the similarity ends when the still-spry and very bawdy nonagenarian speaks in the campaign’s Beast spot — where she shares what could safely be attributed as son Matthew’s origin story both as a quirky, celebrated thespian ... and not-so-casual drinker. In Taste, she’s less verbose, but still wildly effective. Let’s hope McConaughey used some of the financial benefits of his successful career for a good therapist.
