The Manipur government is planning major operations against extremist elements amid continuing violence in the state.Security forces are reviewing their strategy to deal with militancy that has penetrated deep in the state following the ethnic violence that started three years ago."If negotiation fails, action will begin," Manipur home minister K Govindas Konthoujam said on Friday. "You will see a major development in two to three days. We will take strict action on militants."Manipur has several Kuki militant outfits and valley-based groups. According to sources in security agencies, in the wake of the ethnic violence, valley-based outfits such as the United National Liberation Front, People's Liberation Army and the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup have become active. In Naga areas, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah is actively involved in the ongoing conflict, they said.The Centre has ordered the deployment of two battalions of the CRPF's CoBRA jungle warfare unit for operational duties in Manipur.
