Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment & Forests K. Pawan Kalyan on Saturday instructed the District Collectors to take steps that would prevent the release of even a single drop of sewage from the 268 gram panchayats into the Godavari to make them Zero Liquid Discharge so that the river would be clean for the 2027 Pushkarams.Addressing a review meeting on ‘Godavari Model Pushkar Panchayat’ plan through a video-conference, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said a comprehensive action plan should be prepared to achieve the stated goal.Magic drainsHe suggested that magic drains, which yielded impressive results, be constructed on a large scale to curb the menace of water pollution and Munikudali Pushkar Ghat be developed as a model and renamed as ‘Saptarshi Pushkar Ghat’.Advance planning was essential to make the best arrangements and facilities at the Godavari Pushkar Ghats and Pushkar Nagars with pollution-free Godavari Pushkaralu as the goal, he stated.Mr. Pawan Kalyan stressed the need for proper coordination with the Endowments Department for successfully organising the ‘Godavari Harati’at major ghats and for speeding up the restoration of temples.Panchayat Raj Commissioner M.V.R.
