In a statement posted on X, the Iranian Embassy in South Africa criticised the United States and called on FIFA to ensure that all accredited members of participating teams are granted access to the competition.
The Iranian government has accused the United States of failing to meet its obligations as a host nation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after several officials attached to Iran’s national football team were reportedly denied visas ahead of the tournament.
In a statement posted on X, the Iranian Embassy in South Africa criticised the United States and called on FIFA to ensure that all accredited members of participating teams are granted access to the competition.
"The incompetent FIFA World Cup host, USA, is failing to fulfill its responsibilities properly," the embassy wrote.
"We are guests of FIFA, and it is FIFA’s responsibility to ensure that visas for all members are issued."
