A Waqf Board inspector posted in Nalgonda district was arrested by the sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday for accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. The accused officer was identified as Shaik Mahmood.The bureau said the officer demanded money in exchange for submitting a factual report to the Chief Executive Officer of the Waqf Board in Hyderabad. The report pertained to a complaint dated February 25, 2025, regarding the registration of Jaame Masjid Abubakar Siddiq Rahmatulla Alai, Peddavoora property in Waqf Board records.The tainted amount was recovered and he was produced before the special judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. Further investigation is under way.Meanwhile, the ACB urged people to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064 or through its official social media platforms, assuring that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
