Nickolas Wiegand, a tourist from the US, said he uncovered something 'something mysterious and unknown' while taking photographs during a trip to Loch Ness earlier this month14:28, 06 Jun 2026The Loch Ness Monster has made its latest appearance to a startled tourist, who claims to have discovered the legendary Scottish beast lurking in his holiday photos.‌Nickolas Wiegand boarded a tour bus to the loch in the Scottish Highlands, taking video and photos on the trip as he ventured across the stunning countryside during a holiday from the US. Despite having taken large amounts of footage, however, the tourist spent most of the trip peering through the viewfinder, and one crucial detail in his photos didn't emerge until some time later.‌Nickolas was checking his photos later in the day when he found what he believed to be the Loch Ness Monster, marking the fifth such sighting this year alone.‌The American said he had his, at the time unrealised, encounter with the world-famous monster at around 10.14am on May 18, when he stopped by the loch's waters.Nickolas said: "I was only looking through the viewfinder of my camera rather than the lake itself. We were driving at a pretty fast rate down the roadway directly next to Loch Ness. Because our tour was limited on time, I did not have time to watch my recorded footage until after the tour was over."‌The tourist added that he uncovered "something mysterious and unknown" lurking in the water behind him during a "careful review of footage".He continued: "After careful review of the footage, I discovered something mysterious and unknown deep in the water quite far away from shore. In the footage and in the still photographs, you can clearly see a dark image of something breaking the water surface as we drove by."‌"The object is relatively large, gauging the distance from where we were on the bus to the distance of the water, using road signs on shore to gauge what was the size of whatever was in the water."A previous sighting of the monster, reported by Holly Palmer and Scott McMillan, from Worcester, was made on April 25 this year. And two days before then, friends Margaret Sunstrum and Joan Sweeney from Ontario, Canada, said they believe Nessie is big as a whale after their sighting on April 23.Stunned fellow American Sara Gubicza thinks she saw a shark-type fin on the loch on April 21.
