Congolese music icon Fally Ipupa has been bestowed with one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s highest national distinctions after being elevated to the rank of Knight of the National Order of the Leopard.
The prestigious honour, conferred by President Félix Tshisekedi, is reserved for individuals whose achievements and service have significantly contributed to the nation’s development and international reputation.
In announcing the award, the Presidency commended Fally for his outstanding role in promoting Congolese culture and rhumba music across the world.
The 48-year-old singer, who rose to prominence as a member of the band led by Kofi Olomidé before establishing a successful solo career, described the recognition as a deeply emotional and proud moment in his life.
