Chief Judge John J. McConnell, Jr of the US District Court for the District of Rhode Island has ruled that the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) immediately restart immigration adjudications halted under a set of agency-wide processing holds.

The ruling strikes down a range of harsh mass deportation policies advanced by the Trump Administration.

A number of labour unions and immigrant rights groups went to court in March 2026 challenging several immigration policies pursued by USCIS since November 2025.
