Comedian and activist Eric Omondi was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection with alleged criminal offences linked to recent fuel-related protests in Nairobi.
According to a statement issued by the DCI, Omondi was arrested on Friday, June 5, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) following what investigators described as “credible intelligence.”
The DCI alleges that Omondi’s arrest is connected to offences allegedly committed “under the guise of the recent fuel-related protests.”
The agency further noted that several other suspects linked to the same incidents have already been arrested and arraigned in court, warning that it will take firm action against anyone found to have engaged in unlawful conduct during demonstrations.
