ILOILO CITY — The Department of Education (DepEd) in Western Visayas declared that all of its 2,841 public schools are fully prepared for the opening of School Year 2026–2027 on June 8, as the region transitions to the newly mandated three-term academic calendar.

Hernani Escullar Jr., DepEd Region 6 public affairs and information officer, said the regional office has completed a series of orientations for teachers, school heads, and division personnel to ensure the smooth implementation of the revised school calendar.

“We are 100 percent ready. This transition is fully guided by the DepEd Central Office, and we have made the necessary preparations to ensure everyone is aligned with this calendar shift,” Escullar said in a phone interview.

The three-term school calendar is part of a major restructuring effort aimed at protecting instructional time and ensuring learning continuity during natural disasters and other unforeseen disruptions.
