Following some medical checks, Fred will remain under observation at a local medical facility.“No further medical information will be provided. We wish Fred a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at the track soon.”Vasseur was present at the track earlier in the event, with his drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton topping both practice sessions held so far in Monaco. With the narrow confines of the short track in the principality neutralizing Mercedes’ engine advantage, this weekend represents Ferrari’s best chance to win so far in 2026.It has not won a grand prix since Carlos Sainz triumphed in the 2024 Mexico City GP.Qualifying day in Monaco is the most important Saturday of an F1 season, as the lack of overtaking in a dry Monaco race — as is forecast this year — typically means which ever driver starts on pole can control the pace at the front and hold on for victory. In Ferrari’s most recent win in Monaco, with Leclerc in 2024, the home hero led every lap and completed 76 in a row without stopping after a first lap red flag meant all the cars could change tires in the pits and not need to stop again. The Ferrari package is also typically strong in Monaco as the team’s suspension settings have proved strong for tackling the many bumps and riding the many curbs that are key to a fast lap time in the city. Leclerc is also a street track specialist while Hamilton is a three-time Monaco winner.Vasseur has encountered health issues in the past in the F1 paddock. In 2023, he suffered from a back injury throughout the season.Jun 6, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern. Connect the termsFind the hidden link between sports terms
