Trump's DOJ Finally Confirms In Writing That Slush Fund Is DeadJustice Department lawyers on Friday submitted in formal writing to a judge that the proposed $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund" is dead, something acting Attorney General Todd Blanche refused to commit to earlier this week. In response to a lawsuit seeking to block the fund's creation, DOJ lawyers wrote that the dispute "concerns an Anti-Weaponization Fund that had not been set up and is now not going forward." Democrats have been pressuring the administration to confirm in writing that the slush fund is dead after President Donald Trump continued to talk it up this week, even after Blanche publicly stated it was not being created. At an earlier hearing, the acting attorney general said he wouldn't promise that. “I’m not committing to putting anything in writing," Blanche said when asked by Rep. Grace Meng (D-N.Y.) about whether he would put the fund's dissolution in writing. "I don’t know what the purpose of putting something in writing. I’m telling you what we’re doing." Trump Tells Crowd Olympian's Leg Is 'Like A Rock' While Wearing Athlete's MedalPresident Donald Trump called out to some of his supporters in the crowd during a farming event in Wisconsin, including Jordan Stolz, who won gold in Olympic speedskating earlier this year. Stolz then stood and presented Trump with what appeared to be an Olympic gold medal, laying it around the president’s neck.“I’m keeping it!” Trump joked to the crowd as he sat back down. “I’m keeping it, Jordan, I’m not giving it back. I’m a very good guy for keeping gold. I like gold. I’m never giving this back — congratulations.”“I forgot to touch his leg. I didn’t want to do that. But I can tell you one thing: His leg is like a rock,” Trump said. “Two gold medals, wow.”The president has something of a habit of commenting on physically fit male bodies around him. He introduced the man sitting next to him, former NFL linebacker Joe Thomas, as “one hell of a physical specimen.”“I thought I was big until I met you, Joe,” Trump said. Later, he added: "Look at the size of this guy! Boy oh boy ... he's a good-looking man."Friday's event was also, somehow, not the first time an Olympian has presented Trump with a medal. Earlier this year, bobsledder Kaillie Humphries gave the president an Order of Ikkos medal, an honorary award athletes give to influential mentors.Trump To Farmers: 'Your Life Is Much Better Than My Life'President Donald Trump told a group of farmers at an agricultural roundtable in Wisconsin that they have better lives than him."People that are on farms love being on farms," Trump said. "You wouldn’t trade my life — you wouldn’t want my life. Believe me, you don’t want it. Your life is much better than my life.""You have a nice, safe, beautiful life," he added.Trump Brags About Black Unemployment, Then Admits He Has No Source For The StatPresident Donald Trump bragged about the African-American joblessness rate while at an agricultural roundtable in Wisconsin, then conceded he did not have a source for the data point. “African American unemployment is now doing better than it's ever done,” Trump claimed. “And I don't know where that stat came from, but I'll take it. I don't know where the hell that stat came from, but we'll take it."In reality, unemployment for Black workers hit a record low in President Joe Biden's administration, and has since risen.Trump Opens Roundtable By Saying He Got Mad At NBC Because It Was RainingPresident Donald Trump is in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, this afternoon, for an agriculture roundtable. He kicked things off two hours late by complaining about an interview he’d just concluded, apparently with NBC News, in a barn.“I just did an interview in the most beautiful barn I’ve ever seen,” he told the crowd. “But it was raining. And it was with, uh NBC fake news, and because it was raining I got a little bit angry at them. I was not happy with that.”The president then proceeded to inform the crowd how to spell the word “dumb” and how the word can be modified to call Democrats “dum.”“A lot of people don’t know ‘dumb’ has a ‘B’,” he helpfully explained.Ex-CIA Officer Accused Of Stealing Millions In Gold Bars To Stay Jailed Until TrialA former CIA officer accused of stealing $40 million in gold bars and stashing them at his Virginia home will remain in jail until his trial, a judge ruled Friday. Federal prosecutors characterized David Rush as a “master manipulator” and a “tremendous fraud," according to reporters in the courtroom. A former senior CIA officer, Rush worked as a liaison to the Pentagon's highly sensitive nuclear submarine program, NBC News reported. Trump Doesn’t Care You Can’t Afford NBA Tickets: ‘That’s The Way Life Is’President Donald Trump is planning to attend Game 3 of the NBA finals, tickets for which are selling for upwards of $8,000. And he doesn’t give one hoot if that’s prohibitively expensive for everyday Americans.“They can watch it on television,” he told a reporter during a gaggle on Air Force One. “It's sort of semi-free to watch it on television. That’s the way life goes.”Trump added that if the teams were worse, tickets would be cheaper and “you could go very easily.”“That’s the way life is,” he said.Q: The NBA Finals game you're going to, the cheapest ticket price is $8,000. "It's a great honor to have helped from the standpoint of encouragement," Trump said, without elaborating on what constituted "encouragement." During his second term, Trump has explicitly called for the prosecution of his political enemies, a number of whom have faced federal criminal charges."I looked at John Bolton as somebody that was a very dishonest guy and not a smart guy," Trump told reporters on Friday. "I guess he's paying the price for certainly being dishonest." When asked about his reaction to the expected plea deal, Trump launched into a tirade about his experience working with Bolton for a year during his first term."He wanted to go to war with anybody that opened their mouth," he said. "He always wanted to kill people in war. And that was OK for me as long as I didn't listen to him, and I didn't."In October, Bolton was indicted on 18 counts of either retaining or disseminating classified information for allegedly keeping diary-like entires from Trump’s first term at his Maryland home. He's expected to plead guilty to a single count of retaining classified information and has agreed to pay $2.25 million in legal fines as part of the agreement. He faces a possible sentence of probation or up to 5 years in prison. See All Updates
