Guwahati: G P Singh, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force who was former DGP of Assam is in violence ravaged Manipur. He met chief minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Friday.The Centre has ordered deployment of two battalions of the CRPF’s jungle warfare unit CoBRA for operational duties in Manipur. Sources said that the CoBRA battalion is yet to arrive.Several companies of CPRF have been deployed in Manipur since the ethnic violence broke out in 2023. However, violence in Manipur is unceasing.Sources said, “Though a courtesy call. The meeting discussed operational strategies and ways to tame the violence which has engulfed all the regions of Manipur.”Singh is on a three-day visit to Manipur. CRPF stated in X, "On Day 2 of his Manipur field tour, DG @crpfindia @gpsinghips visited E/34 Bn & C/68 Bn at Litan, Ukhrul. He interacted with troops, assessed camp security & infrastructure, and discussed operational challenges on the ground, before joining the jawans for high tea."CRPF stated in X, "Remembering the Bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice. From reviewing critical infrastructure to a vital 'Samvad' with the troops, the focus remains absolute: operational readiness, health, and welfare. He also told the troopers to give their best to maintain normalcy in their area of responsibility.
