I join the rest of the country in congratulating the 33 Samoans who received Honours Awards at a special ceremony during our 64th Independence Celebrations and recognise with appreciation their service to our nation.
This is the first Honours ceremony conducted by the FAST Government since its takeover five years ago.
The Samoa Special Award System was first considered by the HRPP Cabinet in August/September 1984.
I was delegated the responsibility to set up an honours system similar to the British Award System.
