First test, Lord's: England 140 and 226 (Emilio Gay 57, Jamie Smith 39; Nathan Smith 6-70) vs New Zealand 113 (Kyle Jamieson 38 not out, Glenn Phillips 34; Ollie Robinson 5-39, Josh Tongue 3-40) and 36-3. Click here for full scorecard
Nathan Smith took six wickets at Lord’s but was reserving praise for stricken Black Caps team-mate Matt Henry.
His fellow seamer returned after suffering from back spasms to bowl 11 overs on day two of a chaotic first test against England, with the hosts still establishing a strong position on Saturday (NZ time).
“It’s not very nice. It’s amazing he can run in and bowl, but he can’t pull his pants up or tie his shoes,” Smith said after taking 6-70.
“The overs he bowled today were huge for us, to give the bowlers some rest.”
