We’ll probably never see the dark, samurai-inspired alternate universe tale Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin on the big screen. But several years after a video game version was first announced, Paramount Games Studio just announced that a new developer has taken over, and the first teaser video is here. Announced Friday at Summer Game Fest, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is an “AAA action-adventure game being developed by Platinum Games. Based on the popular comic book series, TMNT: The Last Ronin follows the last surviving Ninja Turtle as he embarks on a desperate mission for vengeance,” according to the official site. There’s also news there of a comic book prequel and some merch by the artist Bosslogic on the site. What there’s not news of is a release date or any significant specifics about the game, besides that it will be for console and PC. But it’s safe to assume the game will follow the story of the original 2020 comic book series from IDW, which followed the last living Ninja Turtle, Michaelangelo, as he seeks revenge for the deaths of Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael. The story was based on an early concept from Turtles creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
