A Wellington father-of-two is fighting for his life in a Balinese hospital after a scooter crash on a family holiday left him with brain injuries and a “long, uncertain journey”.

31-year-old Jarom Guillonta was in Bali celebrating his father’s 60th birthday, travelling to the popular island destination with his three siblings and their partners and children, when he was injured on Monday, June 1.

His Aunt, Edie Fink, said family still didn’t know any details of the accident, with a call from the hospital their first alert that anything was wrong.

Family on the Indonesian island rushed to his bedside and found the father-of-two with a severe brain bleed, and major injuries to his hip and femur.

Doctors decided to operate on all Guillonta’s injuries in one major operation from which he is yet to wake, Fink said.
